DMEPOS Competitive Bidding Program: Change to National Provider Enrollment Contractors Effective November 7, 2022

Effective November 7, 2022, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) replaced the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) with two regional National Provider Enrollment Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) contractors. The National Provider Enrollment Eastern Region DMEPOS contractor (NPEAST) and the National Provider Enrollment Western Region DMEPOS contractor (NPWEST) will now process Medicare enrollment applications for DMEPOS suppliers. 

These contractors are responsible for issuing and, if necessary, revoking Medicare supplier billing privileges for DMEPOS items and services for the U.S. states and territories in their respective regions.

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands

The NPWEST will maintain and update the DMEPOS State Licensure Directory with all current state licensure requirements and exemption information.

All DMEPOS suppliers must ensure their enrollment information is always up to date with their respective DMEPOS enrollment contractor and that it is accurately reflected in the Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS). DMEPOS suppliers or referral agents can contact their respective DMEPOS enrollment contractor for assistance:
