Educational Information

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has conducted a preliminary review of all Round 1 2017 bids. Under this process, you will be notified on February 11, 2016, whether:

  • your bid(s) was satisfactorily completed, certified, and approved in DBidS.
  • your hardcopy document package was received timely.
  • your location(s) on your bid(s) met the enrollment requirements outlined in the Request for Bids (RFB) instructions.
  • your bid will continue to be evaluated for a contract offer.

The following enrollment data in the Provider Enrollment, Chain, and Ownership System (PECOS) has been checked for each location on the bid(s):

  • Active  PTAN - PTAN has an active status(not inactive or revoked)
  • Accreditation – PTAN is accredited to furnish items in the product category
  • Licensure – PTAN is licensed by the state to provide items in the product category
  • Common Ownership and Common Control - PTAN is not commonly owned or commonly controlled by another supplier bidding in the same product category and competitive bidding area. For more information, please read the Common Ownership and Common Control fact sheet.

Note: This preliminary review was based on your enrollment data in PECOS when bidding closed on December 16, 2015. It does not include your financial documents, which is a separate review and notification process. Please see the Covered Document Review Date fact sheet for more information on the covered document review process. The authorized official(s) (AO) and backup authorized official(s) (BAO) who registered in the Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM) system will receive an e-mail to alert them that a secure notification has been posted in DBidS. The notification will inform the bidder if a location(s) is eligible for further review. The AOs and BAOs will use their user ID and password to log into EIDM to access the notification in DBidS. It’s very important that AOs and BAOs keep their EIDM user IDs and passwords current; user IDs and passwords expire after 60 days if not used.

If the location(s) is not eligible, the notification will specify which enrollment requirement(s) was not met at the close of bidding, December 16, 2015. You will then have the opportunity to verify with the applicable organization that the requirement(s) was met on or before the close of bidding. You must verify the unmet requirement(s) within 10 business days. Bidders notified that their locations met all the enrollment requirements will not need to take any further action. Refer to the Preliminary Bid Evaluation fact sheet for more information.

IMPORTANT: Bidders who receive a notice stating that all enrollment requirements were met, are still not guaranteed that the applicable bid(s) will be eligible for a contract offer. The bid(s) may still be disqualified if, during the bid evaluation process, CMS finds that any of the bidding requirements in the RFB instructions were not met. All bids are considered final once bidding closes and cannot be amended or changed.

CMS will send important information via e-mail so it is very important that you keep the e-mail address you registered in EIDM current. To update an e-mail address, go to Round 1 2017 Registration and click on Modify EIDM Profile.

If you have any questions about the preliminary bid evaluation process, please contact the CBIC customer service center at 877-577-5331 between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. prevailing Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.
